People do not need meat to become healthy. It is true and proven that meat contains protein, which is an essential nutrient in the body, but meat is dangerous for health over time. On the other hand, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts have many vitamins and minerals that supply energy. But is it really true that vegetarians are said to have more energy than those non-vegans? Yes, and there are 7 reasons for that.
1. Vegetarians have a higher consumption of carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates turn into energy. Since vegetarians eat foods with this compound, they obviously obtain more energy. Plus, there are essential antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that set off the body.
2. Vegetables and fruits contain zero or low saturated fats.
Saturated fats are usually present in meat, including the skin of chicken. This kind of fat is responsible in providing bad effects to the body. It includes the increase of bad cholesterol (LDL) that can cause stroke, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
3. Vegetables and fruits have more good fats.
What these foods contain are polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats. Both of these can provide energy due to the nutrients they produce.
4. Meat is not easy to digest.
Vegetarians basically eat only veggies and fruits. They won’t have a hard time biting and swallowing their food. Whereas meat requires more energy before it is digested. Thus, a vegetarian sustain more energy.
5. Vegetarians are strict in their diet.
The diet does not only consist of fruits and vegetables. It also includes the prevention of sweet foods, fatty foods, and other unhealthy foods.
6. Vegetarians avoid sugary drinks and alcohol.
Health is very important to vegetarians even in their consumption of drinks. Some may drink alcoholic beverage, but only occasionally, and others don’t. Those who do make sure they keep it moderate. Generally, they drink fresh fruit juices and blended vegetables than sodas. And these are drinks that are energy boosters.
7. Vegetarians exercise.
They also workout on a regular basis. Energy can be obtained by exercising. If vegetarians do not include this as part of their lifestyle, healthy eating won’t be that complete to make them fully fit.
For these reasons, it cannot be denied that people who eat healthy foods have a higher dose of energy. But this does not also mean they can live longer than non-vegetarians, because they may be into other habits that are not good, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, or not exercising. If vegetarians live with a healthy lifestyle and habits, other than having healthy diets, there is a high chance for them to live longer.
