Abusing animals is rampant all over the world. This has been an open mistake, despite the effort advocates give to support and protect animals. If we join hands together, it is easier and faster to stop this cruelty for good.
But believe me, people won’t have the heart to help stop this if they do not exactly know how gruesome is the word “abusive” and how cruel is “cruelty”. Which is why I encourage you to continue reading this to have more idea of what’s happening behind homes, shelters, circuses, farms, and abattoirs. By then you’ll see deep inside just how animals really need our support, care, and love.
Abuse can be defined in many ways. It refers to the exclusion of freedom and rights. Yes, animals have rights, too, because they are living creatures! We are assigned to take care of them. We were tasked to be stewards of animals, plants, and other things created in this world. It’s a moral violation to take advantage of animals. Not to mention that are legal laws for animal abuse. You can be fined with hundreds or thousands of dollars, or put into prison.
Abuse also refers to the devoid of food and water. Many animals are punished for no reason by not giving them food. This is more common in shows that use animals as entertainers. Do you think that cute baby elephant is naturally talented that he’s able to stand up with his two front legs for long minutes? Do you believe that lion can pass through the burning loop without any single injury? What you do not see behind the scenes are the crucial training that involves unbearable pain, and no food for hours or days! The shows they give to people are undeniably entertaining and amusing, but not after the sufferings those animals have to go through.
Not feeding animals actually happens in domestic homes, too. It may be intentional or not. Some owners leave their pets behind while on vacation. Others forget to feed them at the right time. If neither these cases, it can be a plain maltreatment.
The abuse that’s familiar to a lot of people is when physical harm is involved. Hurting animals by beating, dragging, tying, and suffocating is not something to be tolerated. Each and every animal is a baby to a mother or a father of young animals. Like Aristotle had said, we are “by nature social animal”. Humans and animals do not have any much difference. What if that happens to your own son or daughter? Can you fathom the thought that your own child is tied, beaten, and hurt over and over?
Medical attention is also not given to animals when they need it. Pet owners, farmers, and other people may find it unimportant to have animals get treated. They may not whine as much as we do if we are in pain, but the same thing happens to animals.
The worse form of abuse in animals is when their lives are taken away. Chopping, slicing, and burning them with fire are unthinkable. There are laws in which certain animals must not be intentionally hurt or killed, but not all. Well, why there are still meat offered on the market everywhere if cattle, pig, chicken, turkey, and lamb are not included? There are exemptions to the rules, and that’s one example. But don’t you think it’s not fair to animals? Don’t you think it’s also inhuman to do such act like that?
What must you do to help stop abuse of animals?
1. Be kind to animals.
2. Provide food, water, and shelter.
3. Never lay hands on animals.
4. Spread awareness to stop animal cruelty.
5. Join groups that support animals’ rights and protect them.
